Caring For Your Mezuzah Scroll
The Hebrew word Mezuzah translates to “doorpost”. According to Jewish traditions, an individual’s mezuzah is to be affixed to the doorpost (or doorposts) in a Jewish home or building. The object we refer to as the mezuzah is an encased scroll which contains the biblical passages Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 11:13-21. As one of the most profound symbols in all of Judaism, the mezuzah serves as a constant reminder of one’s Jewish faith and that their home is a holy dwelling place.
Due to the delicate nature of the mezuzah and its strong religious symbolism, it is imperative that you entrust the inspecting, repairing, and handling of your mezuzah to a StaM certified Sofer.
That is where we come in.
Let The Certified STaM Sofer Inspect Your Mezuzah Scroll
Our technique and attention to detail can be seen in our handling and crafting of mezuzahs, but where it is most exemplified is in our adherence to the practices and rituals of the Sofir.
At NJ Sofer, we are Sofer STaM certified by the Va’ad Mishmermet STAM. Whether you are an Orthodox individual of a private residence, a local business owner, or you are calling on behalf of a school or shul, we can help you. All you have to do is call us.
We Specialize In Mezuzah House Calls
Our specialty is house calls for the examining, repairing, replacing, or re-mounting of your mezuzah.
When we check your mezuhah, we aren’t only inspecting the quality of the written prayers—though that is a significant concern for us. We are also checking to see if moisture has damaged the scroll itself.
Mezuzah Replacement And Repairs: Are You Unsure Whether Your Mezuzah Needs To Be Replaced?
In the event of damage to your home’s new mezuzahs, we are more than capable of repairing any mezuzah or crafting a new one for you.
We write your mezuzah prayers with handmade and regularly sharpened quills rather than rely on the use of printers and computer software.
Prior to this stage, we go to great lengths to make sure your mezuzah is created with the purest intent possible. From the practice of ritual baths to the beautiful script (which can be written in Ashkenazi Beit Yosef, Arizal, or Sephardi upon request) and our distraction-free workspace, every aspect of our process is performed in the service of G-d.
