The Hebrew word Mezuzah translates to “doorpost”. According to Jewish traditions, an individual’s mezuzah is to be affixed to the doorpost (or doorposts) in a Jewish home or building. The object we refer to as the mezuzah is an encased scroll which contains the biblical passages Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 11:13-21. As one of the most profound symbols in all of Judaism, the mezuzah serves as a constant reminder of one’s Jewish faith and that their home is a holy dwelling place.
